Children are free to inquire, experiment and create. They learn to think!
The four year olds build on the foundation established within our community the previous
year and focus on getting ready for Kindergarten. The idea of “community” is further
enhanced as they learn about each other through Show and Tell, story writing and,
though they bring lunch every day, on Friday they prepare their lunch at school and
share it together. The 4 year olds learn about the community they live in through
monthly field trips which begin with walking around the village center and then venture
out to further destinations. Our class also begins to learn to care for the wider
community they live in through several service projects.

Find out more about Community’s approach to learning:
Our newest program offering provides an early school experience for our 2 year olds.
The children will participate in Circle Time, which will include stories and fingerplays.
They will enjoy music and movement, and will have a chance to explore instruments
and dance with new friends. Art is often a favorite activity among two year olds,
and in our 2s program children will have the opportunity to experience different
media, explore new textures and enjoy creating their own masterpieces. The children
will also enjoy snack together with their new friends which helps to build a sense
of community and allows them to practice their developing social skills.
3s Program (3-day)
9:00 am -12:30 pm - Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
12:30 pm to 3:00 pm
In addition to regular class time, we offer to the 3s and 4s an Extended Day option
from 12:30 to 3:00 pm. Enrollment will be on a semester basis, by day of the week.
The philosophy of the three-year-old program at Community is learning through play
and building a lifetime of curious and confident learning. The 3s class has four
central goals which we practice every day. We work on small and gross motor skills
through high-quality toys, art, movement, and outdoor play. We work on creative
expression through dramatic play, music, and storytelling. We encourage cognitive
development by daily reading, and encouraging beginning math and science skills.
Lastly, we focus on social development - developing a “community “of friendships
and working on conflict resolution - through guided free play and circle time. Our
classroom is one of respect and appreciation for the wonder of children.
